Arrival on Pangatalan Island.

Recruitment of the staff, all members 100% locals coming from the three neighbouring villages (Depla, Sandoval, Silanga). 

Re-vegetation of the Island: more than 68,000 plants.  


Creation of Sulubaai Environmental Foundation (SEF).

Presentation of the main goals of SEF to the local authorities and neighbouring villages. 


SEF launches an organic farm to be able to feed the staff and guests of Pangatalan Island.

SEF starts the restoration of the mangrove on Pangatalan Island.


SEF, together with local communities, realize the great cleaning of the marine environments surrounding Pangatalan Island to remove rubbish from the bottom. 

SEF think about how to collaborate with local authorities to take care of the marine ecosystem and to encourage better practices. 


Installation of solar panels, septik tanks on the island to limit our impacts.

Start of the collaboration with the surrounding villages (Depla, Sandoval, Silanga).


SEF starts to work with a marine biologist : identification of ecosystems and cartography. 

Creation of the marine protected area of Pangatalan Island (PIMPA).

Redaction of the Management Plan 2017-2020 of Sulubaai Foundation.


SEF invents the Sulu-Reef-Prothesis module for corail restoration. 

SEF signs the Memorandum of Agreement with the Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI).

SEF becomes part of the “Small Islands Organization” (SMILO) network.


SEF receives the certification “Sustainable Islands” by SMILO (Small Islands Organization).

SEF signs the Memorandum of Understanding with the PCSD (Palawan Council for Sustainable Development).

Creation of  “Sulubaaï Environmental Foundation – FRANCE ” with the same president Frédéric Tardieu in order to represent SEF in Europe. 


SEF receives the certification “Biosphere Responsible Tourism” by the Responsible Tourism Institute and thus become the first “Biosphere Responsible Tourism” certified destination in the whole area of Asia Pacific.

Frédéric Tardieu becomes CEO for the Responsible Tourism Institute for the Philippine.

SEF receives the certification “Zero-carbon resort” by the PCSD with the best score of low carbon emissions among 317 resorts candidates.

SEF becomes a member of Palawan Knowledge Platform for Biodiversity and Sustainable Development with the PCSD.

Pangatalan Island and its bay were elected “Hope Spot” of the Philippines by Mission Blue

SEF starts the second organic farm. 

SEF becomes member of the Ocean & Climate Platform (POC)

SEF receives the Asia-Oceania Innovation award by the French Embassy in Singapour.
